It's no secret how much I adore Brené Brown, and this quote speaks so perfectly to what I'm going through right now- in my parenting, my work and my creativity. It's hard to continuously show up and put yourself out there day after day after day. But it's worth it. Man oh man is it worth it.

You guys- IT'S HERE. I cannot even begin to describe in words what being a part of this project has meant to me (though I do intend to give it a decent try- stay tuned for that...) Been thinking lots about how the best thing we can offer the world is ourselves- who we truly are and not who/what we think we should be. It's an easy concept to understand but a little harder to truly accept and live out, or so I'm finding.

This may seem a bit of a funny quote to pick for this month, particularly because I am not going through any sort of crisis.I am however working on a few creative projects that are taking longer than I had hoped to come together. And this quote is reminding me that the most important thing about creative work sometimes is to just keep going. This is how good work gets done.

monthly quote recap (& a few thoughts on blogging...)
As I always do this time of year, I'm taking a look over the past year in quotes. This year (at the beginning of April) my blog turns four. In that time my life has drastically changed, I've learned so much, and shifted my focus here multiple times.
I know that blogging is kinda over- everyone's quitting and using their time to focus on things like Instagram or podcasting or whatever else is out there that I don't even know about yet... But I love this space. I still take the time to read my favorite blogs and I don't want to only read things that I can quickly scroll past (much as I do love Instagram...). My posts here have become sporadic and a little disorganized- I have no semblance of a posting schedule and just post when I want to and when I have something to say. This means some months I post once and others I post three times in one week.
And I'm okay with this. For now, I'm going to keep showing up in this space because it's still a valuable creative outlet for me, regardless of whether the trend is shifting away from blogging. I've got a few plans this year to reshape several things (including this space) but for now, it's not going anywhere.

okay, so obviously Hagrid was talking about something very different than I am but I've been thinking about this quote recently in regards to raising a little one. Sometimes it feels like things are changing daily- I just get used to something being our routine and the next day it's totally different! It can be a challenge not to worry about the small things or to feel overwhelmed by the new challenges that present themselves along the way. But this quote has been reminding me to stay focused in the present moment and to deal with that first before borrowing from the next day's tasks. We'll deal with them when they come.
(also, isn't JK Rowling just brilliant...?)

never been this late in sharing a quote before but this one perfectly sums up where I want to head this year. I've not set any goals (though I have chose a guiding word) but these three things seem like good aims to me. I'm excited to see where this year takes us. It's going to be quite the ride...

A bit of a longer quote this time around, and something that's been on my mind a lot lately. So many times, I let fear get in the way of putting myself out there, of trying something new creatively, of reaching out to make a connection. Of course, there are always those people just waiting in the wings to shoot you down when you do make the effort, but in my experience, the positive experiences are usually so worth it. So I'm trying to keep that in mind as I chase some dreams over the next few weeks & months.
Also, if you're not familiar with this quote, I totally recommend looking it up and reading the rest. Inspiring for sure!

time is something I've been thinking more and more about recently, as we've found a rhythm to our days and I'm able to squeeze in time for some hobbies again. I don't get to them everyday but in general, I have time to read new books, knit a little, exercise and take walks, sometimes write, keep up with my favorite podcasts and cook healthy meals for my family. I'm finding it helps to have a list of things I'd like to get to so that when I have a free moment, I'm able to use that time wisely, instead of just mindlessly scrolling Instagram (though I still stop in there most days...) I'm just practicing making conscious decisions about how I'd like to spend those little pockets of extra time.

A bit of a different post for this month's quote. It's most likely been obvious from the radio silence here on the blog (or if you follow me on Instagram...) but I wanted to pop in and announce it anyways.
Our son, Caleb James, was born on June 5th and we couldn't be happier. His birth was a very intense but empowering experience and we're settling in nicely to the new rhythms of our life as three.
I know it's what everyone says, but motherhood really does change everything. I picked that quote because giving birth is really just the beginning.
