a second year of quotes (and an announcement)

I can't believe my blog turns 2 at the beginning of next month! This is quite honestly astounding to me- it seems such a short time ago that I was sitting there before an empty blog template, overwhelmed by just the IDEA of beginning to type. Over the past few years I've learned and grown and made friends and built so many life giving connections. Thank you all for being a part of this journey.

It also doesn't seem that long ago that I did a recap post talking about my first year of quotes. (you can read that here) But here we are, it's March again- which means I've made it through my second year of picking a quote at the beginning of each month. This has become one of my favorite practices here on the blog. As I mentioned last year, these are not my all time favorite quotes (though some of them have been added to that list). They are rather quotes that speak to me in that moment, intentions or focus points for the month ahead.

Here are all the quotes from this second year:

April: "have patience with everything unresolved in your heart, and try to love the questions themselves. Don't search for the answers which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. Live the questions now. And perhaps someday in the future you will gradually, without noticing, live your way into the answer"  -Rainer Maria Rilke

May: "there's a lot of beauty in ordinary things...isn't that kind of the point?" (Pam- in the final episode of The Office)

June: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel" -Maya Angelou

July: "I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck the marrow out of life" -Henry David Thoreau

August: "time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted" -John Lennon

September: "I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people" -Vincent Van Gogh

October: "Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we'll ever do" -Brené Brown

November: "I won't desecrate beauty with cynicism anymore. I won't confuse critical thinking with a critical spirit and I will practice, painfully, over and over, patience and peace until my gentle answers turn away even my own wrath." -Sarah Bessey (from Jesus Feminist)

December: "adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience" -Ralph W. Emerson

January: "Anything is possible if you've got enough nerve" -JK Rowling

February: "I will love with urgency and not with haste" -Mumford & Sons

March: "For what it's worth...it's never too late or too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if your not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again." (from the movie Benjamin Button)

I mentioned last week that there would also be an announcement regarding these monthly quotes posts. I am excited to begin this third year, and wanted to extend the invitation to all of you to join me! I am curious to know if there would be any interest in a monthly quote link up? The idea is that I would add a link up to the bottom of each monthly quote post from now on, and if you feel inspired that month to share a quote on your blog you would be able to link it up and share! That way we can pass on inspiration with one another. You would not have to participate every month (though would of course be welcome to), but could feel free to link up whenever the inspiration strikes. I would just ask that you share your quotes at the beginning of a new month.

So what do you think? Let me know if you're interested and I'll think about it a little more, and potentially start the link up at the beginning of April.
