A few snapshots of what life looks like in my studio currently. I've had several ideas in the back of my mind for months now, and so I decided to finally get them on the needles.
When I'm able to spend the day in the studio (which is really just a corner of my living room) I try and make the most of these short hours. Mornings are usually spent responding to comments, prepping blog posts, or typing up and formatting patterns, while sipping hot coffee of course. Then I like to take a walk- run errands, go to the library, visit Waldi at work... just to clear my mind and refresh my creative energy. By the early afternoon I'm curled up with my knitting, a cup of tea and a favorite podcast, my hands furiously working to turn these design ideas into reality. Then it's time to cook dinner for (or with) Waldi before getting back to knitting. Sometimes I switch to personal projects in the evening, but I know I've got a good design idea when I just can't put the project down!
All in all lots of swatching, sketching, winding yarn and knitting going on over the past few weeks. It's always amazing to me how much time and effort goes into designing something- and how many times I have to rip back and start again. I'm very excited about the new-to-me yarns I'm using and hope to release several patterns towards the end of summer, just in time for the autumn months. ReplyDeleteHow exciting, can't wait to see your new patterns! I have a huge respect for both sewing and knitting pattern designers - it's a tremendous amount of work, I'd never have the patience for it.
