our vacation part two: Denmark

This is part two of our vacation recap. See part one here

So, after spending the night in Hamburg, we headed north to the small Danish island of Fejø. We took two ferries and arrived just in time to see the sun set.

We stayed in a small cabin we found through Air B&B. The cabin had no electricity or running water, so it basically felt like camping but with a bedroom! It was completely charming and our host had left us a basket of eggs and vegetables from her garden, which we cooked up over the fire for dinner.

We spent the next three days riding all around the island on bikes, kayaking and swimming in the incredibly warm water. We found a cute cafe in an old Windmill that served coffee and cake every afternoon for a few hours and made several stops there!

Of course, there was a lot of reading (and knitting for me...) by the fire. (I was reading this and Waldi this if you're curious...) Also, I got SO much work done on Waldi's socks. More on this later.

I even found THE most lovely yarn bomb! This is only a small portion of it, it was huge and must have taken many hands and a lot of time to create!

It was so lovely to be somewhere without a lot of noise (or internet). The island was so small, there was only one Supermarket open for a few hours every day. But we did our shopping from the small stands that everyone had outside their houses, selling vegetables and fruit from their garden, or homemade jams, jellies, and juices. There was also an orchard next to our cabin, where we picked fresh plums, peaches, and blackberries for dessert every night.

An incredible trip that we will remember for ages to come!
