embroidery update

so I mentioned on Instagram several days ago that I am in a serious knitting rut. I'm still working on my vanilla latte socks, that I started over a month ago but between visitors and conferences and getting ready for baby, there just hasn't been a lot of time to pick them up.

One other reason why things have been slow on the knitting side lately is that I've been working on a few Spring crafts, which for me tends to mean crocheting with cotton and pulling out my embroidery template. This is the third year I've been working on this same piece, a vintage floral template I inherited from my great grandmother and I'm happy to say this year that I'm finally making a little bit more progress.

As you can see in the above photo, I've finished the entire first side and have already moved onto the second side (not shown) which is a mirror image of what you see above. I'm working really quickly on this right now, which is partly because I have so few other projects on the go. It's been lovely spending sunny mornings sitting out on our balcony, with my breakfast and this project, starting the days off slowly.

Another reason why I've been making so much progress on this is that I FINALLY have an idea as to what to do with it when it's finished. I'm feeling pretty excited and motivated to get it done now that I have a bit of a vision as to how to use it. Though I do enjoy embroidery, I've already got several finished pieces lying around that I really don't have much use for. I'm hoping my vision for this piece turns out. Can't wait to show you... hopefully soon!

what projects are you working on for spring?
