September's Quote

At the start of each month I pick a quote that applies to what I'm experiencing or focusing on at the time. You're more than welcome to join me on your own blog. If you do, please leave a link to your post so I can see the quote you choose!

"that house was a perfect house whether you liked food or sleep or storytelling or singing or reading or just sitting and thinking best, or pleasant mixture of them all. merely to be there was a cure for weariness."
-JRR Tolkien

This is a bit of a random quote, and has more to do with the months passed than this coming one, but it sums up well how I felt being home with my family this summer.

Having the opportunity to go home was amazing and incredible, but it's sure made it hard to come back here and begin regular life again. I am feeling properly homesick, in a way I've not yet felt before, and I'm counting on the memories made this summer to help get me through.

(PS: the photo is our goodbye breakfast, just before we left for the airport...and yes, we had bacon & eggs with waffles. Waldi calls this Heart Attack Breakfast and it is delicious)

Also, today is the last day to get my Rain City hat pattern at a reduced rate for the start of Fall. If you're interested, it's available here

  1. What a lovely quote, Ruthie! I feel exactly the same way about my parents' house, and luckily for me, I'm staying with them for a considerable amount of time while my partner and I redo our 'new' old house. I've posted a monthly quote over on my blog, and here's the link if you want to read it: http://elisesophie.blogspot.no/2015/09/monthly-quote-september.html

  2. Oh, I love this idea! I tend to hoard quotes. I have always struggled with homesickness, even just living in different parts of the same country. Being on a different continent entirely must be very hard. Although, the waffles look pretty amazing, even if they are good bye breakfast.
    I did a quote post too! https://marylymade.wordpress.com/2015/09/01/september/

  3. Lovely quote and that is just what a home should be, no matter how big or small or how many people live in it. Sorry to hear you are homesick - hope you feel better soon when fall really comes in and the colors change (it always makes me feel better somehow so I hope it will be the same for you).
