I designed these cute little stars to attach to gifts this Christmas season. They are quick and easy to crochet and add the perfect touch of handmade to wrapping, but I think they would look cute on a tree or hanging in a window. Today I thought I would share with you all how to make them. Here goes:
(note: these are US crochet terms)
you will need:
cotton crochet yarn
size 3.5 or 4mm crochet hook
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
(optional: twine or ribbon for attaching to gifts)
step one:
chain 6 and slip stitch into first chain to join in a loop.
chain 2, work 12 half double crochet (hdc) stitches into loop.
slip stitch into the top stitch of your chain 2
step two:
chain 8, skip over first hdc stitch, single crochet (sc) into second hdc stitch from hook. repeat this around (6 times).
step three:
In first chain 8 space: work 4 sc stitches, chain 2, work 4 sc stitches. Repeat this around in each of the chain 8 spaces you made in the row before.
Slip stitch into the final sc stitch from the row before.
step four:
cut yarn and weave in ends.
use twine to attach to the outside of a gift, or thread ribbon through one of the star's points and hang on your Christmas tree.
and that's it! Simple, cute and very seasonal!
