pattern: crochet cowl

A few days ago, I decided I wanted to share the pattern for one of the scarves from my Fall line. I'm really excited about all these designs and at first couldn't pick which one I wanted to share. Eventually I narrowed it down to this one: the apfel strudel cowl.

I love this cowl. It's a simple design, very quick to crochet and so cozy and comfortable. I've used a slightly larger crochet hook to make it a little lighter- perfect for early Fall days, when there is a chill to the air, but the sun still offers a bit of warmth.

ANYWAYS. On to the pattern!

what you will need:

approx 3 50g balls of worsted to chunky weight yarn.
crochet hook: size 7mm
tapestry needle for weaving in the ends.

pattern:

note: this pattern is crocheted flat and then seamed up at the ends to create a loop. You will work in US treble crochet stitch (UK double treble crochet).

chain 30.
chain an additional 4 (counts as first treble crochet stitch)
work in treble crochet until piece measures roughly 76cm, or the length you desire. Fasten off, seam at the back and sew in the ends.

Wrap yourself up in your new handmade scarf and get outside to enjoy this season in all it's loveliness!

  1. This is really gorgeous. Is this a chunky (5) yarn or worsted weight (4)? I've GOT to make this!

    1. It's a chunky 5. But it would work with a 4 as well, with a few extra stitches..

  3. I love this! I making it with super chunky 6 (because it's what I have right now, but that will just make it warmer!) but I was wondering what the width is? So I can adjust my chains appropriately. Thanks :D

    1. Actually, it's coming out too chunky, going to try worsted 4

    2. Hi Lily! The finished width is 28 cm. I've made it with a worsted 4 as well and like it even better than the 5 because it's a little looser and better for those warmer Fall days. I hope the 4 works better for you!

    1. Thanks! I used a 100% merino wool in a light brown-ish, kind of a toffee colour.
